Rising Sun Redbud (Cercis canadensis 'JN2' THE RISING SUN)
Rising Sun redbud is selected for changing foliage color as well as spring flowers. New growth can display orange, gold, and lime shades together before leaves mature green.
Key Characteristics
Color after the flowers
Pink-lavender flowers appear on bare stems in spring. Repeated flushes of new leaves extend the display beyond flowering.
A smaller tree in a layered border
Its rounded crown fits a mixed border or woodland edge with room to spread. Afternoon shade can be useful in hot, exposed sites.
Keep the roots comfortable
Provide good drainage and consistent establishment watering. Mulch clear of the trunk and avoid repeatedly disturbing the root zone.

Monitor for cankers and branch dieback, especially on stressed trees. Prune selectively after flowering and remove shoots arising below a graft.
