Sweet Cherry Pie TM Cherry (Prunus cerasus ‘Eubank’)
Sweet Cherry Pie™ is a tart cherry selected for a relatively sweet flavor and a manageable tree form. Despite its name, it belongs with pie cherries rather than the sweet-cherry group.
Key Characteristics
Sweetness with enough tartness for baking
The red fruit is especially useful for pies, jam, and jelly. It remains a tart cherry, so expect a brighter, more acidic flavor than a Stella or Van sweet cherry.
A smaller tree for a home harvest
Its naturally moderate size makes picking and basic care more approachable in a home garden. Maintain an open crown and leave room around it for light and airflow.
A crop from a single cultivar
Sweet Cherry Pie is self-fertile, so another cherry is not required for fruit set. Protect the ripening crop from birds and monitor for leaf spot and brown rot.
Pollination Partners
Self-fertile; a second tree is not required. Cross-pollination depends on overlapping bloom, not matching harvest months.
Rootstock and Mature Size
Plan for approximately 12–15 feet at maturity, depending on site and pruning. The offered variant identifies the rootstock; keep the graft union above soil level and remove rootstock suckers.

General Cherry Orchard Guidance
A good start
Choose well-drained soil and enough room for the mature tree. Water consistently while roots establish, mulch with space around the trunk, and keep vigorous grass and other competitors away from the young root zone.
Fertility and fruit-tree guilds
Use a soil test to guide lime and fertilizer rather than feeding heavily by default. Our Tree Planting Kit fertilizer blend is an optional planting supplement; keep concentrated fertilizer away from bare roots and avoid excess nitrogen.

Practical pest and disease care
Prune in dry weather for an open crown and remove damaged or mummified fruit. Monitor for brown rot, leaf spot, aphids, and spotted wing drosophila near ripening; harvest promptly and use fine insect netting where practical. Birds also enjoy cherries, so plan wildlife-safe exclusion before fruit colors.
