Majestic Peach (Prunus persica)
Majestic is a yellow freestone peach selected in Louisiana for large fruit and a useful resistance profile. It offers a firm, red-blushed crop for fresh eating and preserving.
Key Characteristics
Large fruit with firm flesh
Majestic produces substantial peaches with yellow flesh and a red blush. Let the background color soften toward yellow and taste for readiness rather than picking on blush alone.
Strong bacterial-spot resistance
Its resistance to bacterial spot is a useful feature in humid peach-growing regions. It still needs attention to brown rot, insects, and annual renewal pruning.
A versatile summer crop
Ripe freestone fruit is convenient for slices, preserves, and baked dishes. Thin early so a heavy set does not leave the tree with undersized fruit.
Pollination Partners
Self-fertile; a second tree is not required. Cross-pollination depends on overlapping bloom, not matching harvest months.
Rootstock and Mature Size
Plan for approximately 15–20 feet at maturity, depending on site and pruning. The offered variant identifies the rootstock; keep the graft union above soil level and remove rootstock suckers.

General Peach Orchard Guidance
A good start
Choose well-drained soil and enough room for the mature tree. Water consistently while roots establish, mulch with space around the trunk, and keep vigorous grass and other competitors away from the young root zone.
Fertility and fruit-tree guilds
Use a soil test to guide lime and fertilizer rather than feeding heavily by default. Our Tree Planting Kit fertilizer blend is an optional planting supplement; keep concentrated fertilizer away from bare roots and avoid excess nitrogen.

Practical pest and disease care
Peaches and nectarines fruit on the previous season’s growth, so annual pruning and early thinning help maintain light, fruit size, and branch strength. Remove mummified fruit and monitor for brown rot, leaf curl, and plum curculio. Use sanitation, fruit bags where practical, and locally appropriate organic care; avoid insecticides during bloom.
