Rugosa Rose (Rosa rugosa)
Rugosa rose is an eastern Asian shrub with fragrant pink to white flowers, textured foliage and orange-red hips. Its prickly stems form dense thickets, so give it room and manage spreading suckers.
Flowers, hips and garden use
Flowers attract pollinating insects, and birds visit the hips. The hips are used for teas, jams and jellies. Flower color varies with the plant or cultivar.
Grow in full sun with good airflow and well-drained soil. It tolerates salt and established plants tolerate drought, but wet soils are unsuitable.
