Weeping Willow (Salix babylonica)
Weeping willow forms a broad canopy of long, trailing branches. Its fast growth and preference for moisture make careful siting more important than frequent feeding.
Key Characteristics
Choose the setting first
A large pond-side landscape can accommodate its spreading outline. Keep it well away from drains, septic systems, foundations, and small garden beds.
Moisture and maintenance
The tree thrives in moist soil and tolerates wet conditions. Fast-growing wood can break, so allow space for branch drop and inspect the canopy after storms.
A specific willow choice
This is an Asian ornamental species rather than a native restoration willow. Male and female flowers occur on separate trees; the stock is not sold by sex.

Planting and Ongoing Care
Keep bare roots moist until planting, spread roots naturally, and water thoroughly. Maintain a mulched area clear of grass, with mulch pulled away from stems. Base feeding on a soil test; our Tree Planting Kit fertilizer blend is optional and should be used according to its label, away from direct contact with bare roots.
Water during establishment and inspect for cankers or damaged limbs. This is a landscape tree, not a recommended substitute for native species in ecological restoration.
